PORTALES, N.M. – On a sunny Saturday morning, Eastern New Mexico Woman's Soccer (2-5-1, 1-3 LSC) dropped a home conference match with UT Tyler (7-1-1, 2-1-1 LSC) 2-0 at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium.

The match started quickly with
Meredith Brown firing a shot on goal within the opening six minute, but shortly after the Patriots scored the opening goal. After Natalie Jones had a shot attempt saved onto the crossbar, Brooke Mullins headed in the rebound into an open net to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead.
Following the intermission,
Rosie Willmott Joyce sprung into action in net with four saves in the first 15 minutes of the second half. Eastern were pinned in by the UT Tyler pressure, with the Patriots finding a few more attempts at goal. The Patriots put the game away with a second goal, coming in the 84
th minute. Samaris Alvarado tucked in from close range after receiving a pass from Mackenzee Stokes and Natalie Jones.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
- Sierra Villanueva led the Greyhounds with two shots, while five other Greyhounds finished with one.
- Lauren Mora and Mia Jackson earned their first starts of the season for ENMU.
- In goal, Willmott Joyce made seven saves in net for the fifth time this season (third match in a row).
- With the win, the Patriots claim their first victory over the Greyhounds in the all-time series. Eastern still holds the advantage with a 2-1-2 record against the Patriots.
- Eastern New Mexico continues their stay at home, playing Midwestern State on Wednesday, Oct. 9 for another Lone Star Conference duel. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium.
