PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Volleyball (5-18, 2-10 LSC) posted a 3-0 sweep over Sul Ross State (2-16, 2-10 LSC) on Saturday afternoon at Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.

Leading the Greyhounds,
Sophia Valdez tallied 14 kills for a match high. Valdez was effective with 14 kills on 25 swings with just one error (.520 hitting percentage). Valdez was aided by
Randi Crandall (11 kills) and
Darcy Dodd (10 kills) on the attacking side.
Cayla Reyes paced the offense with 36 assists during the three-sets match, while adding a team high two service aces.
Nevaeh Rodriquez also contributed a pair of service aces in the match.
At the net, Valdez led the team with four total blocks (two solo, two assists), as
Brianna Hernandez contributed three total blocks to effort.
Imahni Brown led the Greyhounds for digs with 13, while
Halle Sanders was just behind with 12 digs in the match.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORES
- Individually, Valdez posted a season best for hitting percentage (.520 hitting percentage) and tied a season high for total blocks (4).
- The Greyhounds led the match for kills (46-38), aces (6-3), blocks (7-5), assists (44-35), and digs (51-47).
- Eastern picked up their first sweep of the season, besting Sul Ross State for the second time this season. The Greyhounds have now won the last 24 matches against the Lobos.
- ENMU will now make a long road trip for their next match, taking on Texas A&M-Kingsville on Friday at 4 p.m. (MST) / 5 p.m. (CST) in Kingsville, Texas.
