DURANGO, Colo. – Eastern New Mexico Women's Basketball defeated New Mexico Highlands, 74-63, in the season opener at the South-Central Region Crossover held in Whalen Gymnasium on Friday afternoon.

Julieta Ceja paced the Greyhounds with 15 points, shooting a perfect 7-7 from the field. The junior added three assists, two rebounds, and a block to their stat line.
Jaz Salon supported the Greyhounds with 10 points, connecting on a team high two three-pointers. The point guard added a team high five steals, along with four boards.
Trinity Hudson supplied eight points in just eight minutes on the floor.
Nataya Lockett scored eight points from the bench, while
Ishuana Hunter (seven points, seven rebounds) and
Kaitlyn Edmondson (seven points) played also featured from the bench.
The key moments came in the second half as the Greyhounds led by many as 15 points in the 3
rd quarter. However, the Cowgirls mounted a comeback to cut the score to 61-60 ENMU with five minutes to play. From then, the Greyhounds scored 13 unanswered points in four minutes to put the game out of reach.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
- ENMU never trailed in the game, with the score being tied three times.
- The Greyhounds finished with a 46.6% field goal percentage (27-58), connecting on 33.3% of three-point attempts (6-18), while going 14-21 from the foul line (66.7%).
- ENMU held an edge over the Cowgirls on the glass (38-33), outscoring NMHU 40-28 in the paint, and holding a superior advantage for blocks (4-0).
- Every active Greyhound on the roster saw the floor, with several individuals playing their first game for the Green & Silver: Victoria Barrera, Kaitlyn Edmondson, Abbi Holder, Hudson, Tonka Jakšić, Lockett, Tatiana Platonova, and Jayla Smith. Barrera, Edmondson, Holder, and Jakšić all played their first collegiate game.
- Eastern New Mexico closes out the weekend against Fort Lewis on Saturday evening against host Fort Lewis. First tip is set for 6 p.m. at Whalen Gymnasium.
