EL PASO, Texas – A last second putback ended Eastern New Mexico Women's Basketball upset bid over Division I UTEP on Monday evening at the Don Haskins Center, with the Miners taking the contest 50-48. The game counted as an exhibition for the Greyhounds.

Abbi Holder paced the Greyhounds with a team high 11 points, adding three assists. Holder led the Greyhounds with three triples, finishing 3-7 from behind the arc.
Julieta Ceja provided a strong performance with 10 points and nine rebounds, grabbing eight defensive boards. Also contributing,
Victoria Barrera supplied eight points with a pair of threes, while
Jayla Smith (5 pts, 7 rebs, 16 mins), and
Trinity Hudson (8 rebs, 2 blocks) made important contributions.
Trailing by as many as 16 points in the 3
rd quarter, Eastern New Mexico mounted a valiant comeback to tie the game with less than 20 seconds to play in the 4
th quarter. The Greyhounds outscored the Miners 20-8 in the fourth quarter with the first seven points of the period cutting the game to 42-35 with 7:52 remaining. Another short 6-0 spurt brought the game to one possession, then tying the game with 14 seconds to go. Ceja hit a turnaround jumper with 46 seconds to go, then the Greyhounds forced a turnover to get the ball back. Holder then drained a step-back three to tie the contest at 48 each (first tie of game other than 0-0). However, the Miners put back a missed jump shot with two seconds left to cut short the ENMU excitement.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
- ENMU and UTEP were close in the boxscore, as the Greyhounds finished shooting 31% from the floor and the Miners finished 35% from the field. Rebounds (44-38 UTEP), turnovers (15-15), steals (7-7), assists (8-7 UTEP), and blocks (4-4) were all very close.
- Eight of the nine Greyhounds that took the floor found a basket in the game, and seven of the nine recorded a rebound.
- The Greyhounds return to regular season action for its next game, facing #7 Lubbock Christian on Friday, January 3, at Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena. First tip for the Lone Star Conference game is set for 5 p.m.
