SWEETWATER, Texas – Eastern New Mexico rodeo had a solid weekend as the women's side took fourth and the men's program finished eleventh. Four different Greyhounds made the short round.

Shacie Marr split 2^nd/3^rd in the long round after a 6.7s run in goat tying. She ended up winning the short go with a 6.5s finish and snagged 165 points for Eastern New Mexico University.

"That girl has worked really hard to get what she has accomplished and continues to improve," said head coach Albert Flinn on Marr and her work ethic. "When you consider the event (goat tying), that is pretty satisfactory. There are some tough goat tiers in the region."

Jordyn Everson was one of six student-athletes to split seventh in the long round of breakaway roping with a 2.1s run. Everson managed to take seventh in the short go, but it was not enough to score points for ENMU. Any points from Everson would have given the Greyhounds a third-place finish as a team.

For the men, Zach Townsend (steer wrestling) and Couy McBride (team roping) made the short go.

Townsend's 3.9s run in the long round tied for first going into Saturday night. He wasn't able to complete his second attempt and came away with 55 team points to help the program take eleventh.

"Doing things fundamentally," said coach Flinn when asked about what Townsend did to score big points for the team. "He did what he was supposed to and caught him, shook him, and took him down. Good things happen when you stand up, slide, and throw 'em down."

 Couy McBride partnered with Kolton Smith from West Texas A&M to take seventh in the long round with a 6.4s result. The two could not complete a run in the short go and came away scoreless in the rodeo.

The Greyhounds will take next week off for the Easter weekend before they compete in three-straight rodeos. The next competition is set for Snyder, Texas with the event hosted by Western Texas College April 4-6.
