PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Baseball closed out their home schedule with a 10-5 victory over St. Mary's University on Senior Day on Sunday afternoon at Greyhound Baseball Field. With the victory, Eastern secures a 3-1 series win over the Rattlers. ENMU shifts to 21-25 overall, while sporting a 19-25 conference record. St. Mary's drop to 19-27 in 2024, with a 17-27 standing in the LSC.
After now runs in the opening inning, the Greyhounds grabbed three runs in quick succession in the 2
nd inning. With one runner on base,
Daniel Pruitt singled to left center,
Tucker Gideon followed with a RBI single through the right side,
Cooper Hamilton provided a RBI double, then
Landon Pyles brought home a run on a sacrifice fly, to turn the score to 3-0 in the span of four batters.
The Greyhounds returned for more runs in the 4
th inning, taking advantage of the St. Mary's pitching. After three consecutive walks loaded the bases with no outs, Pyles lined a double into the gap to bring home two runs. The next batters,
Luciano Terilli cleared both runners with a single to right field as the Greyhounds took a 7-0 lead. The Greyhounds moved their lead to 8-0 as Pruitt drove home

rd base in the 5
th inning. Baileys started the frame with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch, then stole third for the Pruitt RBI opportunity.
St. Mary's broke up the shutout in the 6
th inning, but the Greyhounds handled a bases loaded no out situation to escape the inning with just one run allowed, 8-1 ENMU. The Rattlers brought the game to life, scoring four runs during the 8
th frame after three hits and three free passes made the game 8-5. However, the Greyhounds added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the inning with
Rutger Poiry scoring Nyles during from third on a hit-by-pitch, while Gideon drew an RBI with a bases loaded walk. Eastern recorded the final three outs in order to secure a 10-5 victory on Sunday afternoon.
NOTABLE STATS
- The Greyhounds outhit the Rattlers, 11-7, while the Greyhounds picked up three extra base hits and stole two bases.
- Every starter registered a base hit during the game, with Pruitt and Hamilton accounting for a pair of hits. Pyles provided a team best three RBIs, while Terilli and Gideon were just behind with a pair of RBIs. Baileys, Gideon, and Pruitt all scored twice during the game.
- Adrian Rubio set the tone early on the mound, tossing four scoreless innings with six strikeouts in that time. Marc Rios tossed a scoreless relief inning to earn the victory, while five other pitchers took the hill for the Greyhounds: Anthony Gonzalez, Noah Rodriguez, Ruger Bravo, Austin Dunn, and Zach Raichel.
- For the Rattler, starting pitcher Brennan Greer takes the defeat giving up seven runs from five hits and three walks. Matt Bundy registered three innings allowing one run, Brody Ticer (1.2 IP) gave up two runs, while Tom Symonds faced two batters.

"Great series win on senior day!" said Head ENMU Baseball Coach Riley Price. "Adrian Rubio gave us a phenomenal start on the mound and multiple guys did their job out of the pen. Offensively, we left a few stranded, but took advantage of a couple big innings and a couple guys came in clutch with some big 2-out hits," said Price.
"Very proud of all our seniors and their contribution to this program as well as their families who show us so much support," said Price. "We had a great turnout from fans and families this weekend as it made it a great atmosphere for our guys to compete in. GO HOUNDS!"
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Pyles provided three RBIs to lead ENMU this afternoon, posting multiple RBIs for the 7th time this season. On the hill, Rubio supplied a scoreless outing for the third this season, with six strikeouts ranking 3rd highest this season.
- Willie Ponce hit their seventh triple of the season during the game, extended their team best in that category.
- The Greyhounds took the conference series against the Rattlers for just the second time, winning three out of four games in 2022.
- ENMU honored its seven graduating seniors and one graduate assistant, playing their final home game of the season: Duren, Rodriguez, Gonzalez, Bravo, Hamilton, Dunn, Poiry, and Devin Houdeshell.
- Eastern concludes the regular season on the road with a four-game series against Lubbock Christian University, beginning on Friday, April 26th.
