CANYON, Texas – A steady paced offense led Eastern New Mexico Softball past Texas Woman's, 5-2, in the first round of the Lone Star Conference Softball Tournament at Schaeffer Park. ENMU shifts to 26-25 on the season, while the Pioneers cap the 2024 campaign with a 25-29 record.
After a scoreless first inning, the Greyhounds snagged two runs in the second frame.
Grace Rofii reached base on an error, then
Valeria Contreras singled to right field to get two runners on. After a sacrifice bunt and a walk loaded the bases,
Mikenzey Patterson singled home the opening run with a ball up the middle. Later in the inning, a wild pitch scored the second run of the game with Contreras racing home.

Following back-to-back 1-2-3 innings from the ENMU defense,
Alondra Vasquez doubled home a run with two outs to extend the lead in the fourth inning.
Cecy Jurado began the inning with a single, and moved up to second on a sacrifice bunt. The Pioneers responded with a run in the bottom of the inning, making the score 4-1 after four full innings.

Contreras made the score 4-1 with a single in the top of the 5
th inning. After a walk and reach on error, Rofii executed a sacrifice bunt to push the runners into scoring position. Then, Contreras poked a line drive to the opposite field scoring the runner from third. Vasquez increased the Greyhounds led with a solo home run 6
th inning, powering a fly ball over the left-field fence. TWU brought home a run in the six, as ENMU led 5-2 going into 7
th frame. ENMU held off the Pioneers for the final inning to win 5-2.

- The Greyhounds out hit the Pioneers, 7-4, as Vasquez provided both of ENMU's extra base hits.
- Vasquez paced the Greyhounds with a pair of hits (double and home run), along with two RBIs. Contreras also grabbed two singles in the game, along with an RBI.
- In the circle, Marissa Rodriguez slowed Texas Woman's to just four hits, giving two runs (one earned) with just one walk and pair of strikeouts.
- Alyssa LeBlanc took the loss, allowing seven hits and five runs (two earned), producing five walks and six strikeouts.
