Ciara Morris Joins ENMU Athletic Training Staff As An Assistant Athletic Trainer

Morris will work with men's soccer, men's basketball, and women's basketball for the upcoming season, joining ENMU from MLS club San Jose Earthquakes

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico welcomes new athletic trainer Ciara Morris, joining the Greyhounds in late July. Morris brings years of experience working with several different organizations. Morris will serve as the primary athletic trainer for men's soccer, men's basketball, and women's basketball.

Before landing in Portales, Morris served as an Academy Athletic Trainer for Major League Soccer (MLS) club San Jose Earthquakes, working with the U13-U17 teams. Morris communicated daily reports with the coaching staff, recommending training modifications on an individual player to player basis, and facilitate physician appointments and interactions for parents and doctors.

Prior to joining the Earthquakes, Morris has experience at the collegiate level, serving one season at Menlo College (NAIA) working with the men's soccer and women's basketball programs. With Menlo, Morris enforced COVID-19 protocols while instituting ankle and hamstring injury prevention programs. Additionally, Morris was the primary contact for physicians working with student-athletes and documented injury notes using ATS.

Morris gained their first professional experience at Atlantic City FC, as a full-time athletic trainer with the semiprofessional soccer team. Morris helped coordinate team meals, dietary needs and supplementation, and created on-field and pool recovery protocols.

Morris holds several certifications including their Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers. Morris is a NATA member (National Athletic Trainers' Association), with Basie support certifications from the American Red Cross, along specialist certifications from the National Academy for Sports Medicine (Performance Exercise Specialist and Corrective Exercise Specialist).

Morris garners three degrees, first earning an Associate of Arts at Chabot College (June 2015). They earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from California State University – East Bay (Dec 2018), then was awarded for Master of Science in Athletic Training from University of the Pacific (May 2021).
