Men's Soccer Scores In Fourth Consecutive Match During 1-1 Draw With Northeastern State

Arthur Macri scored for the Greyhounds during the 29th minute

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Two goals in the first 30 minutes produced a 1-1 draw between Eastern New Mexico Men's Soccer (1-1-2) and Northeastern State (0-2-2) on Saturday afternoon at DeLoache Field.

After an opening back and forth, the Riverhawks took their first chance of the game as Kei Nagakura scored the opening goal in the 8th minute. Halfway through the first half, Arthur Macri found the back of the net in the 29th minute to restore a tie game. Kevin Nunez played a deep lofting ball into the center channel, with Macri turning his defender to finish into the bottom right corner.

Both teams held firm in the second half, with each team having a golden chance on a breakaway. A loose pass played in a NSU forward on goal and rounded the goalkeeper but crashed their attempt against the post. Meanwhile, a defensive miscue allowed Eastern through on goal, but a smart stop from the keeper persevered a 1-1 draw.

Catalin Nastuta finished the match with five saves in net, facing 17 shots, while the Greyhounds produced six shots and four shots on goal.
