PORTALES, N.M. – Playing their home opener, Eastern New Mexico Volleyball (1-8) faced Lone Star Conference opponent Midwestern State (4-5) as part of the 2024 LSC Challenge. The visiting Mustangs took a 3-0 win in the non-conference matchup on Thursday evening at Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.
MSU 3, ENMU 0 (16-25, 20-25, 21-25)
Darcy Dodd powered the Greyhounds attack, recording a match high of 14 kills.
Sophia Valdez and
Halle Sanders both finished with six kills to support the ENMU offense.
Cayla Reyes (14 assists) and
Abigayle Falefia (13 assists) paced the team for assists.
Imahni Brown posted a team best 19 digs, as Dodd finished with 13 digs to pick up a double-double.
Five different Greyhounds picked up a block during the match, as
Randi Crandall supplied three block assists to lead the pack. Valdez contributed a pair of block assists in the match.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORES
- Dodd picked up their second double-double of the season, with their first of the season coming against Black Hills State with 15 kills and 19 digs (9/13).
- Eastern played Midwestern State in a non-conference match for the second consecutive season but holds the all-time series matchup against the Mustangs 24-21.
- The Greyhounds get back on the floor tomorrow evening, with ENMU matching up with Sul Ross State. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m., with Midwestern State playing Western New Mexico before at 3 p.m. from Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.
