PORTALES, N.M. – After falling in the first set, Eastern New Mexico Volleyball (2-8) rattled off three straight sets to comeback to beat Sul Ross State (0-5) 3-1 on Friday evening at Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.
ENMU 3, SRSU 1 (21-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-18)
The defense was the backbone for the Greyhounds win, picking up 86 digs and 11 total blocks.
Randi Crandall,
Darcy Dodd, and
Brianna Hernandez each accounted for five total blocks, recording at least one solo block during the match.
Imahni Brown paced the Greyhounds for digs, supplying a match high 24 digs. Dodd contributed 21 digs, while
Halle Sanders eclipsed double figures with 16 digs.
Dodd picked up a double-double with a team best 14 kills, as
Sophia Valdez added nine kills in the win. Sanders (eight kills), Crandall (seven kills), and
Nevaeh Rodriquez (six kills) all helped to lift the offense.
Cayla Reyes and
Abigayle Falefia both breached 20 assists in the match, recording 23 assists and 20 assists, respectively. Reyes also led the team with three service aces, as Dodd finished with two service aces.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORES
- The Greyhounds extended their winning streak against the Lobos to 23 consecutive matches.
- ENMU posted a season high 11 total blocks during the match, while 86 digs are the most they have recorded in a four-set match this season.
- Reyes tied a season best 23 assists, while Falefia surpassed their career best with 20 assists. Brown posted a new personal season high for digs with 24, as Dodd posted a season best for digs (21) and total blocks (5).
- Eastern concludes the weekend against Western New Mexico on Saturday, Sept. 21. First serve is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. from Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.
