ODESSA, Texas – Eastern New Mexico Volleyball (3-9, 0-1 LSC) suffered a tough Lone Star Conference opener against UT Permian Basin (8-2, 1-0 LSC) on Thursday evening at the Falcon Dome.
UTPB, ENMU 0 (16-25, 13-25, 13-25)
Sophia Valdez (eight kills) and
Darcy Dodd (seven kills) finished as team leaders for the Greyhounds, while
Brianna Hernandez supplied four kills.
As for assists,
Cayla Reyes posted a ENMU high 13 assists in the match.
Imahni Brown reached double-figures in the match for digs with 10, while
Nevaeh Rodriquez provided six digs to the effort.
ENMU tallied three total blocks in the match, as Valdez recorded a solo block and block assist.
Randi Crandall (solo) and Hernandez (assist) finished with one total block.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORES
- Valdez led the team with a .217 hitting percentage (minimum 10 attempts), while leading the team in blocks (two total).
- The Falcons bested the Greyhounds in straight sets for the first time since 2019, winning the eight matchups with ENMU.
- ENMU head back to the Land of Enchantment to face Western New Mexico on Saturday, Sept. 28. First serve from Drag's Court is scheduled for 2 p.m.
