SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Eastern New Mexico volleyball team dropped a straight-set decision to nationally-ranked Angelo State (25-20, 25-13, 25-21) Thursday night at the Junell Center - Stephens Arena.

Junior outside hitter
Amya Speller led the Greyhounds attack with 11 kills on 18 attempts for an impressive .556 hitting percentage. The standout performer also contributed defensively with one solo block and two block assists, finishing with 13 points overall.

Sophia Valdez added nine kills while posting a .179 hitting percentage on 28 attempts. Valdez rounded out her performance with two block assists and four digs in the conference matchup.

Defensive specialist
Imahni Brown anchored the Greyhounds' back row with a team-high 12 digs. Brown's defensive effort helped ENMU stay competitive throughout the match despite the final outcome.

As a team, Eastern New Mexico recorded 37 kills with a .261 hitting percentage, compared to Angelo State's 47 kills and .371 attack efficiency. The Belles were led by Julia Hopkins, who tallied 18 kills on 29 attempts for a .483 hitting percentage.

The loss drops the Greyhounds to 4-19 overall and 1-11 in Lone Star Conference play, while Angelo State improves to 16-7 overall and 10-2 in conference action.

Eastern New Mexico will look to bounce back when they travel to Odessa, Texas, for another Lone Star Conference matchup against the University of Texas Permian Basin on Saturday, November 1. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. CST.
