PORTALES, N.M. — The Eastern New Mexico women's soccer team suffered a 7-0 defeat against Lubbock Christian in Lone Star Conference action Saturday at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium.
The Lady Chaps took control early when Ella Spiller found the net in the 14th minute with an assist from Lauren Rotan. Sydney Smith extended the lead to 2-0 early in the second half, scoring in the 54th minute off an assist from Spiller.
LCU continued its offensive pressure with Casey Storer adding a goal in the 58th minute, followed by Riley Espinoza's score in the 63rd minute to push the advantage to 4-0.
Spiller notched her second goal of the match in the 74th minute with assists from Anna Brandt and Espinoza. Brandt capped the scoring with a goal in the 78th minute, assisted by Spiller and Manderigh Santos.
The Greyhounds managed seven shots in the contest, with
Meredith Brown and
Simone Brothers leading the offensive efforts with one shot on goal apiece. ENMU recorded three corner kicks in the match.
Rosie Willmott Joyce received the start for the Greyhounds in the goal while recording a pair of saves in 67 minutes of action. Freshman
Kiley Patalan stepped in goal and tallied a save.
Eastern New Mexico returns to action Tuesday, October 8, hosting St. Edward's in another conference match up at home.
