PORTALES, N.M. — The Eastern New Mexico volleyball team dropped a Lone Star Conference match to Dallas Baptist 3-0 (12-25, 24-26, 22-25) on Saturday at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena for Dig Pink theme day.
Despite the loss, junior outside hitter
Sophia Valdez led the Greyhounds with 12 kills, while junior middle blocker
Aaliyah Butler posted an impressive .538 hitting percentage, recording eight kills with just one error on 13 attempts.
The Patriots controlled the opening set, but ENMU showed resilience in the second and third sets, pushing DBU to the limit before falling short. The Greyhounds nearly forced a fourth set after keeping the third set close at 22-25.
Addison Bartlett contributed five kills for ENMU, while
McKenzie Hart added three kills and three block assists.
Imahni Brown led the defensive effort with 14 digs.
For DBU, Karly Wells paced the attack with 18 kills on a .302 hitting percentage, while Kalin Hubbard added six kills. The Patriots finished with eight service aces in the match.
The loss drops Eastern New Mexico to 3-11 overall and 1-3 in lone star conference play. The Greyhounds will look to bounce back when they host Lubbock Christian on October 7 at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena at 6 p.m.
