PORTALES, N.M. — Eastern New Mexico University's volleyball team struggled against Lone Star Conference leader Lubbock Christian University, falling in straight sets (10-25, 10-25, 15-25) Tuesday evening at Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.
The Greyhounds (3-12, 1-4 LSC) were led by sophomore
Imahni Brown, who contributed significantly on defense with a team-high ten digs while adding an ace and a service point. Brown's defensive effort helped keep several rallies alive against the powerful Chaps attack, which hit .289 for the match.
Sophia Valdez paced ENMU's offense with six kills, while
McKenzie Hart and
Isabella Hidalgo each added three kills. The Greyhounds struggled to find rhythm against LCU's formidable front line, finishing with a -.078 hitting percentage across the three sets.
Lubbock Christian (13-4, 5-0 LSC) remained undefeated in conference play behind Bryleigh Schweer's seven kills and Camryn Blair's seven kills on a .174 hitting percentage. The Chaps' balanced attack featured four players with at least five kills, while Abby Dominguez anchored the defense with 17 digs.
The Greyhounds will look to rebound this weekend when they travel to Canyon to face West Texas A&M on Saturday, October 11. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. MST / 2 p.m. CST.
