Greyhounds end season with four-set road victory over Cameron

Amya Speller finished with 14 kills, six blocks, and a .542 hitting percentage for the Hounds

LAWTON, Okla. - The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team concluded its 2025 season on a high note Saturday, defeating Cameron University 3-1 (26-24, 25-19, 23-25, 25-21) at Aggie Gymnasium. The win improved the Greyhounds' final record to 5-24 overall and 2-15 in Lone Star Conference play.
 
Junior outside hitter Sophia Valdez led the Greyhounds' attack with 18 kills on a .163 hitting percentage, adding three service aces, one block assist and 15 digs for an all-around performance. Freshman Addison Bartlett contributed 13 kills with a .367 hitting percentage and four digs.
 
Junior Amya Speller delivered a standout performance with 14 kills on a team-high .542 hitting efficiency, along with two service aces, five block assists and a solo block. Senior defensive specialist Imahni Brown anchored the back row with a match-high 25 digs in her final collegiate match.
 
The Greyhounds' offense was orchestrated by setters Catalina Gutierrez and Violeta Flores. Gutierrez tallied 24 assists while Flores added 25 assists and six digs.
 
Jennifer Valdez contributed eight kills and four digs, while Anastasija Andelic recorded 10 kills and 12 digs for the Aggies.
 
"I'm incredibly proud of how our girls stepped up and played with tremendous energy in this final match," said ENMU head coach Karli Bustos. "They showed resilience and determination all season, and it was rewarding to see them put everything together today. The way they fought for every point demonstrates the character of this team and gives us something positive to build on for the offseason."
 
Eastern dominated at the service line with eight aces compared to Cameron's six. The Greyhounds also held the advantage in digs (86-78) and total blocks (14-9).
 
The match featured 24 tie scores and 12 lead changes across the four sets, with the Greyhounds showing poise in critical moments. After claiming the first two sets, ENMU dropped the third set before regrouping to close out the match in the fourth.
 
Cameron University finished their season with a 7-23 overall record and 3-14 in conference play.
