PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico men's basketball is continuing their hot start with their seventh straight win. The Greyhounds took control early and beat Oklahoma Christian, 80-59.
"Very happy how we played these games," said head coach Daven Võ when asked about the opening weekend of conference play. "I want to keep this rolling. When you have good leadership it makes it easy."
Võ was referring to the leadership he receives from players like
Mo Austin and
Jose Murillo. Austin had six points, three assists, and three steals.
Three different players scored in double figures in the win over the Eagles.
Treyvon Byrd had an excellent outing against Oklahoma Christian. The senior forward posted a career best 28 points in the win on 11-of-17 shooting from the field. He also grabbed 11 rebounds to snag his first double double as a Greyhound.

Cooper Jackson was productive in the backcourt. The Kansas native scored 17 points with a team best four steals. He now leads the conference with 3.3 steals per game.
Jose Murillo now has more double doubles than he totaled all last season. His fourth double double of 2025-26 came via 10 points and 11 rebounds. He swatted three shot attempts and is second in the conference with 2.0 per game. Murillo is also second in the conference with 9.3 rebounds per affair.
The battle was won in the paint tonight. Eastern New Mexico outscored Oklahoma Christian in that department, 48-16. The Greyhounds rarely connect on three-point shots. Instead, they rely heavily on forcing missed shots and capitalizing on those errors. ENMU forced 10 turnovers and scored 15 points in the matchup.
Eastern continued to trust their quick paced offensive style. They earned 19 fast break points compared to eight for the opposition.
The biggest difference came in the second half for Eastern. OC only shot 25% from the floor over the final period of play. They were led by Carson Jones who tallied 18 points in the contest.
Eastern New Mexico had an excellent outing as they trailed for only 14 total seconds. Instead, they led for 38+ minutes in the contest.
