Eastern New Mexico defeats Oklahoma Christian, 63-50

Nataya Lockett scored 16 points while Julieta Ceja added 15 points and 8 rebounds in Hounds win over OC

PORTALES, N.M. - The Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team continued its impressive run Saturday afternoon, defeating Oklahoma Christian 63-50 at Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena to extend its winning streak to four games and improve to 2-0 in Lone Star Conference play.

The Greyhounds (5-3, 2-0 LSC) controlled the game from start to finish against the Eagles (4-4, 0-2 LSC), using a balanced offensive attack and dominant interior play to secure their second conference victory of the season.

Junior forward Julieta Ceja led ENMU with 15 points, eight rebounds and two steals in another stellar performance. The outing marked Ceja's fourth double-digit scoring game this season as she continues to establish herself as a key contributor for the Hounds. Ceja shot 5-of-13 from the field and knocked down a three-pointer while grabbing seven offensive rebounds to help ENMU control the glass.

Senior guard Nataya Lockett provided support with 16 points and one steal, leading all scorers in the contest. Lockett was efficient from the field, shooting 5-of-10 overall and connecting on 5-of-6 free throw attempts.

The Greyhounds established their dominance in the paint early and never relinquished control, outscoring Oklahoma Christian 30-18 in the interior. This inside presence allowed ENMU to control the tempo and create quality scoring opportunities while limiting the Eagles' offensive options.

ENMU built a 13-7 lead after the first quarter and extended their advantage to 33-22 at halftime. The Greyhounds maintained their double-digit lead throughout the second half, using strong defensive play and timely scoring to keep Oklahoma Christian at bay.

The Eagles were led by Taylor Jackson, who finished with 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting. However, Oklahoma Christian struggled with turnovers and shooting consistency, particularly from three-point range where they connected on just 3-of-9 attempts.

ENMU's bench contributed 18 points in the victory, with multiple players making meaningful contributions. Tatiana Platonova scored seven points and grabbed five rebounds with a pair of assists while teammates Hannah Jensen and Martrice Brooks each scored five points for Eastern.

ENMU shot 32.8 percent from the field for the game while holding Oklahoma Christian to 44.2 percent shooting. The Greyhounds were particularly effective from the free throw line, connecting on 20-of-28 attempts (71.4 percent) compared to Oklahoma Christian's 9-of-18 performance (50.0 percent).

ENMU will look to extend its winning streak to five games when they return to action next Thursday at UT Dallas in Richardson for another conference matchup.
