ODESSA, Texas – An early big inning from UT Permian Basin (5-19, 5-19 LSC) sunk Eastern New Mexico Baseball (12-10, 10-10 LSC) on Sunday afternoon, falling 16-8 at Roden Field. Both teams take a 2-2 split of the series, with ENMU winning the first two games (seven-inning doubleheader), while the Falcons took home the last two games.
During the high scoring affair, UTPB outhit the Greyhounds 19-11, as
Luciano Terilli led the Greyhounds with three hits, scoring four runs, with a pair of RBIs.
Willie Ponce also picked up three hits, while
Anthony Cortese and
Kyle Kiernan both had a pair of RBIs. Ponce finished with a pair of doubles, while Terilli had a double and a home run.
Five different Greyhounds took the mound for Eastern New Mexico.
Roman Connolly started the game, throwing 1.1 innings and allowing eight runs from eight hits.
Julian Lopez led ENMU with 3.1 IP, while
Demitrius DiMatteo (1.1 IP),
Adrian Rubio (1.0 IP), and
Klevert Martina (1.0 IP) finished the game for the Hounds.
After ENMU scored in the opening inning, the Falcons turned the game in their favor with eight runs in the second inning. UTPB put up eight hits in the inning, taking the lead with a grand slam. Eastern did fight back with two runs in the 3
rd inning, and two runs in the 4
th inning, cutting the score to 8-5. Terilli hit a two-run home run in the third, while a hit-by-pitch and fielder's choice produced two more runs.
However, UT Permian Basin extended their lead to 12-5 with four runs in the 5
th inning. ENMU supplied a run in the sixth, but the Falcons added to its lead with two runs in the 7
th and 8
th innings. The Greyhounds added to their run total in the 8
th frame with two runs, but the Falcons finished up the game with a 16-8 win.

- Terilli hit his team leading 5th home run of the season, while Dylan Shea earned his first start in the lineup this season.
- Connolly is given the loss on the hill, while Brock Roberts earned the win in relief for the Falcons.
