PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico rodeo competes in their final rodeo of the season this weekend. Before ENMU travels to Tarleton State, please take a look at the Three Barrel Preview:
1.) All-Around Success: For a third time this season,
Shacie Marr won an all-around title at a collegiate rodeo. Marr scored points in goat tying and breakaway. Her success inked her the all-around title in Big Spring, Texas. The graduate student was joined by
Tyra Tsosie who made a short go. The only Hound on the men's side to make it back was
Walker Dennis in team roping.
2.) Regional Watch: Eastern New Mexico women's rodeo ranks fourth in the region and the men's team is fifteenth in the region.
Shacie Marr is second in the region in all-around, fifth in barrels, fifth in breakaway, and eighth in goat tying.
Shaeden Marr is thirteenth in breakaway roping.
Zachary Townsend is thirteenth in steer wrestling.
Shacie Marr needs to earn 90+ more points than the cowgirl ahead of her to be the top competitor in all-around.
3.) Tarleton State Outlook: Eastern New Mexico will be represented by 38 entries this weekend. Both
Katie Anderson and
Gracie Hillrud will compete during Thursday's performance round in goat tying. Eastern will have 20 competitors throughout the day on Friday.
Tyra Tsosie,
Greeley Eastep, Ty Mackenzie,
Zachary Townsend, Halle-Mae Gaudry, and
Shacie Marr will all compete during the performance round Friday night. There will be another 16 entries from the Hounds on Saturday morning in hopes of making it back in the short go.
