Greyhounds six-game win streak snapped at No. 11 Lubbock Christian

Shay Moseberry finished with a team-high 19 points in 77-63 loss to the Lady Chaps

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Eastern New Mexico women's basketball team saw its six-game winning streak come to an end Saturday afternoon, falling 77-63 to No. 11 Lubbock Christian University at Rip Griffin Center.

Senior guard Shay Moseberry paced the Greyhounds' offensive attack, pouring in a team-high 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Moseberry also contributed four rebounds and two steals in 30 minutes of action.

Junior guard Aaliyah Smith finished with nine points on 3-of-7 from three-point range in 16 minutes of play. Smith also added two rebounds.

Forward Chloe Dallas anchored the glass for Eastern New Mexico, pulling down a team-high eight rebounds while adding four points.

Junior forward Julieta Ceja contributed six points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Tatiana Platonova chipped in seven points and two rebounds off the bench.

The Greyhounds (12-5, 8-1 Lone Star Conference) struggled to find their offensive rhythm against the Lady Chaps' stifling defense, shooting just 35.9 percent from the field and 32.3 percent from three-point range. Eastern New Mexico connected on 23-of-64 attempts overall and 10-of-31 from deep.

ENMU faced significant challenges in the middle quarters, being outscored 21-12 in the second period and 24-12 in the third quarter. The Lady Chaps used those two quarters to build a commanding lead that the Greyhounds were unable to overcome down the stretch.

Lubbock Christian (15-3, 7-2 LSC) shot 50.0 percent from the field (23-of-46) and 50.0 percent from three-point range (7-of-14) while dominating at the free-throw line, converting 24-of-31 attempts for 77.4 percent. The Lady Chaps were led by Meg Meekins's 24 points and Kennedy Chappell's 21 points.

The win for LCU ties the overall series record between the programs at 24 games apiece.

Despite the setback, the Greyhounds remain tied for second place in the conference standings and will look to bounce back when they return to their home floor next week.

Eastern will be back in action Thursday, Jan. 22, when the Greyhounds host that team from Canyon at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena in Portales.
