LAREDO, Texas -
Mekhila Brown scored a team-high 13 points off the bench to lead four Eastern New Mexico players in double figures as the Greyhounds defeated Texas A&M International 69-59 Thursday evening at the Kinesiology Building.
Brown added four rebounds and three assists in 28 minutes of action, providing a spark for the Greyhounds (16-9, 12-5 Lone Star Conference) in its fourth consecutive victory.
Julieta Ceja recorded her third double-double of the season, finishing with 12 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 5-of-7 from the field and 2-of-3 from three-point range. The forward also contributed two assists and a steal in 30 minutes.
Toyah Montgomery matched Ceja's scoring output with 12 points on efficient 5-of-7 shooting, including two three-pointers. Montgomery added four rebounds and four assists in 19 minutes of work.
Aaliyah Smith rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points and two assists, helping Eastern control the tempo throughout the contest.
The Greyhounds shot 47.5 percent from the field and dominated the paint with 44 points. Eastern also capitalized on second-chance opportunities, scoring nine points off offensive rebounds while limiting the Dustdevils' transition game.
Racheal Emmanuel led Texas A&M International (12-11, 9-8 LSC) with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Bridgette Tello added 17 points in the losing effort.
Eastern now leads the all-time series against the Dustdevils 6-3.
The Greyhounds will look to extend their winning streak to five games when they travel to Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday, Feb. 21. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. CT at the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education Center in Kingsville.
