SILVER CITY, N.M. - The Eastern New Mexico softball team dropped a pair of games to Western New Mexico on Sunday afternoon at The Yard, falling 12-2 in the opener before dropping the nightcap 10-2.

The Greyhounds fall to 9-10 overall and 5-7 in conference play while the Mustangs improved to 12-10 on the season and 8-4 in league action.Â

GAME 1: WNMU 12, ENMU 2

Seneca Aarstad provided the offensive spark for Eastern New Mexico in the opening game, going 2-for-3 with a home run and a triple to lead the Greyhounds. Aarstad drove in two runs and scored twice in the loss.

Jordan Rivera was the only other Greyhound to record an extra-base hit, collecting a double in the contest.

Kayla Campbell and
Ana Paula Oquita each added singles for ENMU, which managed six hits as a team.

Western New Mexico's offense exploded for 12 runs on 10 hits. The Mustangs scored six runs in the bottom of the second before adding five in the bottom of the sixth inning to take control of the game.

Miranda Guillen suffered the loss in the circle for the Greyhounds, falling to 6-4 on the season. She allowed five runs on two hits in 1.2 innings of work.
Marissa Rodriguez pitched 2.1 innings in relief, allowing two runs on four hits, while
Cierra Smith gave up five runs on four hits over the final 1.1 innings.

Alixe De Anda earned the win for Western New Mexico, improving to 8-4. She pitched all six innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out three.

GAME 2: WNMU 10, ENMU 2

Ana Oquita led the Greyhounds' offensive effort in the nightcap, going 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a double. Oquita drove in two runs in the loss.

Lorissa Scott each recorded a hit for Eastern New Mexico, which managed six hits as a team for the second consecutive game.

Western New Mexico scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning to take command of the contest. Ciara Spencer homered and drove in two runs for the Mustangs, while Lanessa Morales also went deep with a solo shot. Maria Ruelaz added a home run and drove in two runs in the victory.

Angelina Rubalcava took the loss for the Greyhounds after giving up three runs off four hits.
Giazza Lopez, Rivera, Rodriguez and Smith also saw time in the circle for ENMU.

Labraida Tenorio earned the win for Western New Mexico. Sophia Solano and Alyssa Torres also pitched for the Mustangs.

Eastern New Mexico will look to bounce back when they return to action next week at home against St. Mary's on Friday followed by St. Edward's on Sunday.
