ENMU baseball recognizes six Greyhound grads during Sunday's home finale

Eastern New Mexico drops final home game of the 2026 season, 9-4

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico baseball recognized six seniors Sunday afternoon at Greyhound Baseball Field.

"Really proud of them," said head coach Riley Price when asked about the seniors after the game.

The six Hounds included Alexander Sanderson, Isaiah Figueroa, Demitrius DiMatteo, Nicholas Miller, Nick Mooney, and graduate assistant Cooper Hamilton.

Eastern New Mexico dropped the home finale, 9-4, against Angelo State. It marks a series sweep for ASU over ENMU.

Angelo State scored the game's first six runs. The Rams had two in the second, three in the third, and one in the fourth. The Rams had an RBI-triple in the second along with an RBI-ground out that setup the first two runs of the contest. The third saw a two-RBI single and a sac-fly to push three runs across. ASU added a run in the fourth as ENMU was attempting a pickoff with a runner at first base. Mooney gave up all those runs for Eastern.

The first runs of the day for Eastern came in the fourth as Isaiah Figueroa doubled down the left field line scoring Logan Martin and Nicholas Miller.

Angelo State used a trio of RBI-singles to get to nine runs by the fifth inning. Sanderson was credited with the final two runs as he came in to pitch the rest of the contest after a leadoff walk given up to Payton Bush.

ENMU plated two more runs in the eighth as Gabriel Watson hit an RBI-double and Adrien Martin had an RBI-single.

Isaiah Figueroa and Gunner Ferguson had two hits each. The 2-thru-6-hole hitters each earned a hit. ASU struck out eight Hounds on the day.

Another special part of Sunday's game is that Roosevelt County Little League came to support the team. They hosted a pregame tailgate, had a ceremonial first pitch, and ran the bases after the game.

The final four-game series of the 2026 season will take Eastern New Mexico to Laredo, Texas to play Texas A&M International. Follow along for game updates on www.goeasternathletics.com
