PORTALES, N.M. - The Eastern New Mexico softball team swept UT Permian Basin in a pair of five-inning games, 11-0 and 12-3, on Saturday afternoon at the Greyhounds Softball Field in Portales.

The Greyhounds (19-26, 15-23 LSC) dominated both contests against the Falcons (18-29, 9-27 LSC), combining for 23 runs on 24 hits while limiting UTPB to just seven total hits across the doubleheader.
Game 1: ENMU 11, UT Permian Basin 0
Marissa Rodriguez delivered a masterful performance in the circle, tossing her sixth complete game of the season. The senior limited the Falcons to just two hits while striking out three and walking one to improve to 10-3 on the year.

Offensively, the Greyhounds exploded for 11 runs on 11 hits, with four players recording multi-hit performances.
Natalie Rodarte led the charge with a double and a triple, while
Giazza Lopez and
Ana Paula Oquita each drove in four runs.

ENMU scored a run in the bottom of the first inning when Lopez plated Rodarte with a stand-up double.
Talia Martin extended the lead to 2-0 in the second with her first home run of the day.

The Greyhounds broke the game open with four runs in the third inning, highlighted by Lopez's three-run homer. Eastern added five more runs in the fourth to invoke the run rule. Martin drove in
Aubrey Jaramillo with a single up the middle before Oquita stepped to the plate as a pinch hitter for
Emily Marsh and crushed a grand slam that gave the Hounds an 11-0 advantage.

Rodarte, Lopez,
Seneca Aarstad, and Martin each recorded two hits, while Oquita, Marsh, and Cheyenne Ortiz added one hit apiece. The single marked Ortiz's first hit of the season.
Game 2: ENMU 12, UT Permian Basin 3
The nightcap featured more offensive fireworks from the Greyhounds, who scored 12 runs on 13 hits to complete the sweep.

ENMU struck first in the bottom of the first when
Christina Meneses doubled down the left field line to score Rodarte from second. The Falcons answered with three runs in the top of the second off three hits and a fielding error, but the Greyhounds responded emphatically.

Eastern erupted for nine runs on eight hits in the bottom of the second inning to seize control. Martin belted her second home run of the day, while Lopez, Meneses, and Aarstad delivered back-to-back-to-back singles. Oquita capped the rally by clearing the bases with a three RBI double to right center field, giving ENMU a 10-3 lead.

The Greyhounds tacked on two more runs in the third inning to secure the 12-3 victory.

Angelina Rubalcava earned the start and threw 1.0 inning, allowing three runs on two hits and a walk.
Miranda Guillen entered in relief and was dominant over the final 4.0 innings, surrendering just three hits while striking out five Falcons to earn her seventh win of the season and improve to 7-9.
