PORTALES, N.M, - The Eastern New Mexico University Football team was named the 2025-2026 Lone Star Conference Football Academic Champions, the conference announced on Monday. The team accumulated a 3.003 GPA to top all ten conference teams.

This marks the eighth time in the past ten years at the Greyhounds have achieved this honor. 45 members of the team were named to the Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll in the Fall of 2025, while 36 members were named to the list in the spring of 2026.

"It has become a tradition for Greyhound Football to be recognized as Academic Champions by the Lone Star Conference, having won this award in eight of the last ten years," says director of athletics
Kevin Fite, "during the past two semesters our football student-athletes earned a cumulative team GPA above a 3.00. We continue to develop high performing, academically and athletically, leaders in our football program, and in our athletics department in general. I congratulate all student-athletes, coaches, faculty, and administrators that continue to play a role in our successes in the classroom and in competition."
