Portales, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico women's soccer battled New Mexico Highlands to a scoreless 0-0 draw Thursday evening in the Greyhounds' 2026 home opener at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium. The tie marks the first point earned for the Greyhounds since the 2024 season.
The Greyhounds came out of the gate with offensive pressure, generating an early chance on an on-target header, but the Cowgirls were able to keep the ball out of the net.

Aja Gonzales was there to make the save and preserve the clean sheet.
Eastern New Mexico continued to control the attacking pressure throughout the opening 45 minutes. The Greyhounds recorded 14 shots in the first half, with seven finding the target, while New Mexico Highlands managed three total shots. Despite the offensive advantage, ENMU was unable to break through as the two teams entered halftime tied 0-0.
The Greyhounds pushed forward after a lightning delay, looking for the opening goal and maintaining pressure in the Cowgirls' defensive end. ENMU continued to create scoring opportunities throughout the remainder of the match, but the Cowgirls defense held firm.
Nereida Porras provided a consistent offensive presence for the Greyhounds, recording two shots on goal, while Raylene Carrillo led the team with four total shots.
Gonzales and the Greyhound defense remained strong throughout the contest, keeping New Mexico Highlands off the scoreboard and securing the shutout.
The draw moves Eastern New Mexico to 0-0-1 on the season as the Greyhounds continue their opening stretch of the 2026 campaign.
Eastern New Mexico will remain at home for its next contest, welcoming Western Colorado to Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 29. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m.
