RICHARDSON, Texas – Eastern New Mexico women's soccer fell to UT Dallas, 7-0, Wednesday evening at the UTD Soccer Complex. The Greyhounds move to 1-5-1 overall and 0-3-0 in conference play following the road contest.
UT Dallas opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Ella Spiller found the back of the net off an assist from Emma Best. ENMU goalkeeper
Aja Gonzales kept the Greyhounds within one for much of the opening half, making several early saves before the Comets added two late goals. Kyleigh D'Spain scored in the 32nd and 42nd minutes to send Eastern into halftime trailing 3-0.
The Comets extended their advantage just 25 seconds into the second half on a goal from Viviana Duarte. UT Dallas later converted a penalty kick in the 61st minute before adding goals from Jules Chavez and Kaitlyn Rush to close out the scoring.
Despite facing consistent pressure, Gonzales recorded a season-high 13 saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal. One of her biggest stops came in the 65th minute when she denied a UT Dallas penalty kick.
UT Dallas finished with a 33-0 advantage in shots, placing 20 attempts on goal.
The Greyhounds will return home to face #3 DBU on Friday at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium at 2 p.m on Friday.
