STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS – Senior
Lindsey Barron recorded eight kills and a .250 attack percentage to pace the Eastern New Mexico volleyball team offensively Friday night. The Zias fell to Tarleton State 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-17) in TSU Volleyball Gym.
ENMU sees their record drop to 12-14 overall and 4-9 in the Lone Star Conference while the TexAnns are now 20-5 and 10-4 in conference play.
With the exception of two ties in the first set with the last being 4-4 after a service ace from senior
Karra Day, TSU maintained the lead. The TexAnns also led the entire way in the second set as well.
Down by nine after the first 13 points of set three, Eastern fought back to cut the deficit to 21-17 following a TSU attack error. The final four points of the set though went to the TexAnns while recording three kills and an ace.
Sophomore
Lauren Frye had five kills and both senior
Agatha Gibbons and sophomore
Courtney Lawson added four kills apiece. Gibbons also had a team-high four blocks as two were solo rejections. Day led ENMU with 14 assists while 10 were credited to senior
Kennedi Catano.
For TSU, Kelsey Raglin posted a match-high 10 kills and .421 attack percentage. Hailey Roberts contributed with nine kills, four service aces and three blocks. At the net, Kenya Alexander, the national blocks leader, had five total rejections with two solo while Jasmyne Brown posted a match-high seven blocks.
Eastern had 25 kills but were forced into 28 attack errors for a -.031 hitting percentage. They were also outblocked 12-6 and surrendered 10 service aces. The Zias did have a slight edge in digs 40-36.
Saturday sees ENMU face Angelo State at Stephens Arena at 1 p.m. MT in their final LSC road match of the year.
