ARLINGTON, TEXAS — The Eastern New Mexico University football team (2-1; LSC 0-1) exchanged touchdowns with Midwestern State (3-0; LSC 1-0) in the final minutes of Saturday's game at the Lone Star Conference Football Festival. After ENMU put together a go-ahead drive with just over five minutes left, the Mustangs answered to score with just 21 seconds left and claim a 28-24 win over the Hounds in the conference opener for both teams.

How it Happened:- Midwestern State drove to the ENMU 39-yard line on its opening possession, but Larry Baker Bruce forced a fumble which was recovered by DeSean Anderson
- The ensuing drive was highlighted by a 41-yard pass to Adrian Horton and capped by a three yard touchdown run from Jakorious Williams
- Eastern extended their lead to 14-0 on a drive which stretched into the second quarter, on a two-yard run from quarterback Jeremy Buurma
- The Mustangs got on the board with 4:53 left in the opening half, when Vincent Johnson's nine-yard run capped an 11-play, 68-yard drive
- The Hounds immediately responded with a 12-play drive and pushed the lead to 17-7 on a 23-yard field goal from Timothy Callian
- Midwestern State got off to a quick start in the second half and capitalized on a pair of big plays over the span of about a minute to seize a 21-17 lead
- Hagen Hutchinson found Arsenio Phillip for a 49-yard touchdown pass with 9:47 left in the quarter
- Less than a minute later, Alec DiValerio returned a fumble 32-yards for the Mustang lead
- With 8:57 left in the game, Eastern went for it on fourth down at the MSU seven-yard line, but the Mustangs made the stop and looked to run the clock
- Eastern's defense stiffened and allowed just two yards on three plays, to force a punt which set up the Hounds at the Mustang 44-yard line
- On the second-play of the drive, Buurma found Aaron Johnson for a 28-yard gain
- Two plays later, Jeremy Doucette scored from four-yards out to give ENMU a 24-21 lead with just 5:25 to play
- An exchange of punts set up the Mustangs at their own 10-yard line with 3:03 to play
- A 12-yard pass to Terrence Smith converted a fourth-and-six from the MSU 14-yard line
- The Mustangs capped the 13-play drive on a Quade Coward two-yard run with 21 seconds left
- Buurma connected with D'Maujeric Tucker for a 19-yard pass on the ensuing drive
Inside the Statistics- Eastern New Mexico had a balanced offense in the opening half, with 101 yards rushing and 101 yards passing
- Buurma's 88 yards rushing was a career high (previous 81 vs West Texas A&M 11/1/2014)
- Eastern's 197 yards passing was the most in a conference game since posting the same number against Tarleton State on October 5, 2013
- D'Maujeric Tucker paced the offense with a career-high 69 receiving yards
