LUBBOCK, TEXAS — The Eastern New Mexico men's soccer team stayed undefeated Wednesday, playing Lubbock Christian University to a 2-2 tie to move to 3-0-2 on the season.
The Chaparrals came into the match with a 3-1 record on the season. The Greyhounds are now 3-1-2 all-time against LCU.
Ryan Sinclair put the Hounds on the board first, scoring off a free kick at the top of the 18 box through the keeper. The Chaps soon answered with a goal of their own at the 52 minute mark.
Gino Battiato scored four minutes later from over 40 yards out over the keeper, putting the Greyhounds back on top. LCU would score yet again on a through ball at the top of the 18 box, tying the match at 2-2.
The game would end up being called only minutes into the second overtime period on account of weather, ending with a final score of 2-2.
The goals by Battiato and Sinclair were their first of the season. Despite the two goals allowed, ENMU keeper James Gutierrez recorded a season high 11 saves.
Both Alexis Medina and Battiato recorded four shots with two shots on goal each. Robert Raspudic got his first start of the year, attempting two shots.
The Greyhounds will continue their three game road trip with St. Mary's (TX) Friday followed by St. Edwards University on Sunday. ENMU will return to defend its home field against their Texas rival West Texas A&M University Thursday, Oct. 1, at 3:00 p.m.
