PORTALES, N.M. — After a strong performance in a heartbreaking loss to Texas Woman's yesterday, the Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team (5-6; LSC 0-1) is just one day away from stepping back onto the court at Greyhound Arena to resume its schedule. On Thursday, the Hounds will host Cameron to conclude a three-game home stand, while a contest at Midwestern State awaits on Saturday.

Last season at Greyhound Arena, ENMU trimmed a 13-point deficit in the second half to just two points.
Jordyn Cooper's layup with 14:17 to play pulled Eastern within 49-47. After Cameron pushed the lead back to eight, ENMU stormed back and pulled within 64-63, on a trey from Cooper with just 34 seconds left. The Aggies connected on four free throws to seal the game.
Eastern's last win in the series came on January 8, 2014. The Aggies took a 56-55 lead with 4:03 left on a Jazzmine Robinson free throw, but what followed is something ENMU fans are likely to remember for a long time. The Zias closed the final 3:57 on a 15-5 run, with
Tori Tucker scoring all of the points on three free throws and a four-for-four performance from outside the arc. Eastern went on to a 70-61 victory.
Cameron has won three of its last four games, with the only setback coming at West Texas A&M. The Aggies also opened the season strong, with a 4-1 record.
Last season, Cameron posted a 15-12 record and tied for second in the LSC with a mark of 12-4. The Aggies were eliminated from the LSC Tournament by Texas A&M-Commerce, before they fell to WT in NCAA Regionals.

since a 51-49 road win on February 13, 2010. Eastern overcame a 20-7 disadvantage in points scored off turnovers by limiting the Mustangs to a 27.4 shooting percentage and an 11.1 percentage from three-point range, which included 0-10 in the second half. Til-Lois Fifer paced ENMU with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Cat Clay added 10 points and 10 boards. ENMU trailed 47-37 with 6:01 left, but closed with a 14-2 run. Fifer hit a game-tying layup with 1:36 left and the game-winning free throws with 50 seconds on the clock.
Midwestern State is on an eight-game skid since a 57-55 win over Texas Wesleyan. McKenna Villegas connected on a buzzer-beating jumper to snap a 55-all tie. The Mustangs will visit West Texas A&M, prior to hosting the Hounds.
Last season, Midwestern State posted a 23-7 record and tied for second in the LSC with a mark of 12-4. The Mustangs defeated Eastern and Texas A&M-Commerce, before they fell to West Texas A&M in the LSC Tournament finals. MSU dropped a 67-57 decision to Colorado Christian in NCAA Regionals.
Up NextThe Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team will visit Texas A&M-Kingsville, next Wednesday. The Hounds return home on January 16, to face Angelo State, before a road trip to Tarleton State.
