Greyhounds Chap Lubbock Christian with Late Goal, 2-1

PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico University men's soccer team bounced back from a tough loss on Friday to upend Lubbock Christian, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at Al Whitehead Field at Greyhound Stadium. The win snaps a four-match losing streak and moves the Greyhounds to 3-5-1 on the year and 2-4-0 in Heartland Conference play.

Eastern picked up its first goal late in the first half on a set piece. Taking a corner kick, Robbie Leonard launched a ball into the box before Jacob Rudder found Raith Houle from five yards out to give the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead.

Late in the game, Brandon Couling tied the match at one when he beat ENMU keeper, James Gutierrez for the equalizer. Eastern didn't have to wait long to regain the lead for good. Just two minutes later, Ryan McManus and Mitchell Meisinger streaked down the field, creating a 2-on-1 opportunity for the ENMU. Meisinger poked the ball from 15 yards out and found the stitching to secure the win for Eastern.

The Greyhounds return to the pitch on Monday against Southern Nazarene. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Al Whitehead Field at Greyhound Stadium in Portales. For the latest news, follow @ENMUAthletics on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and visit goeasternathletics.com.
