Volleyball Falls to TexAnns, 3-0

PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-10, 25-21, 25-14), decision on Friday evening in Stephenville to Tarleton State. The loss moves the Greyhounds to 10-9 on the year and 5-4 in Lone Star Conference action.
 
Eastern was unable to overcome a .444 attack percentage from the Texanns, while the Greyhounds committed 17 attack errors. Senior Lauren Frye provided a spark for the Green and Silver, picking up 13 kills on 23 swings for a .522 attack percentage. Alexis Aguirre dished out 17 of the team's 29 assists.
 
Up 6-4 in the first set, Tarleton State closed the opening frame on a 19-6 run to claim the first. In the second set, Eastern hit .310 and had five different players record kills. The Greyhounds closed the deficit to within one late in the match at 18-17, but TSU closed on a 7-4 run of its own to take a 2-0 lead into intermission. Both sides exchanged serves through the first 15 points of the third set, but another big run by Tarleton gave the Texanns the 3-0 win.
