PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. — The Eastern New Mexico baseball team saw another stellar performance from their new found ace Jerrott Gray in their 11-0 win over Clark Atlanta Friday, starting their three game Georgia road trip off well.
Gray, who recorded a complete game shutout last week against Oklahoma Panhandle State, threw six scoreless innings, allowing only five hits while striking out six batters for the Greyhounds (3-1). The Panthers (1-7) were left at the plate scratching their heads all night, never hitting for more than a single or stringing back-to-back hits together.
While Eastern started the contest out only scoring one run in the first inning followed by a scoreless second, their bats came alive in the third, connecting for two hits and four runs. After a scoreless fourth the Greyhounds scored in the three remaining, including another four run performance in the seventh.
Charles Sandberg Jr. and Daniel Ward both had impressive days at the plate, each batting .500 and recording an RBI for the contest. Justin Paul and Jacob Cluff both hit homeruns, driving in two and one RBIs, respectively. Dylan Nault led all players with three RBIs on the night, recording one double that while the bases were loaded, scoring all three runners and putting a cap on Eastern's win.
The Hounds will resume action Saturday, taking on Lane with the first pitch scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (MT). Following their matchup with the Dragons, ENMU will take on Selma on Sunday, with the time still to be determined.
