SAN DIEGO, CALIF. — Senior second baseman
Dylan Nault pounded out a pair of hits over Saturday's doubleheader, to extend his hit streak to eight games. The Eastern New Mexico University baseball team wrapped up its series with Point Loma Nazarene (8-3) with 20-0 and 5-2 setbacks at Carroll B. Land Field.
Nault's eight-game stretch is the longest for any Greyhound this season.
On Monday, the Greyhounds will visit Arizona Christian. The first pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. MT.
Game 2The nightcap was the tightest game of the series. The Hounds put together a two-out rally in the top of the first inning, when
Justin Paul reached on an errant throw and scored from first base on a
Daniel Ward double. The Sea Lions scored single runs in the second and third innings to seize a 2-1 edge, but Eastern managed to push the game-tying run across the plate.
Paul Tapia singled, one out into the Greyhound fifth and scored on a Nault double down the left field line.
Point Loma Nazarene responded with three hits and capitalized on an error to plate three runs.
The Sea Lions held a 7-5 edge in total hits, while each team had a pair of doubles. Kevin Lilicrop picked up the win for PLNU, while
J'Daylin Jackson suffered the defeat for the Hounds. Jackson only allowed one earned run on three hits before the fifth inning.
Game 1Charles Sandburg,
Jacob Cluff, and Nault all singled for ENMU in the opener. The Sea Lions exploded for nine runs over the first two innings and never looked back.
Jarron Hill limited Point Loma to one run on five hits over the final 3.1 innings. Trevor Abshire scattered two hits over six innings to earn his first decision of the season.
