The ENMU Greyhounds volleyball team opens a four-match homestand on Tuesday against New Mexico Highlands at 6 p.m. in Greyhound Arena. Eastern hosts Midwestern State and Cameron this weekend for the first home Lone Star Conference match of the year.

First Serve
• ENMU Head Coach Sia Poyer (38-64), in his fourth-year at the helm of the volleyball program, needs 12 victories to eclipse the 50-win plateau.
• The Greyhounds and Cowgirls have met eight times since the 2008 season with Eastern going 3-5 against N.M. Highlands. However, the Green and Silver are riding a three-match winning streak against NMHU, including a pair of wins at Greyhound Arena
• Lauren Frye enters her senior season with 1,319 career kills. Frye is currently ranked No. 3 on the all-time list and needs 376 kills to break Christabell Mariner's program record of 1,695. The Amissville, Va., native was a First Team All-Conference selection a year ago and picked up a tournament-high 73 kills at the WTAMU Lady Buff Classic and garnered an All-Tournament selection at the Tarleton State Tournament.
• Senior Courtney Lawson aims to end her prolific career in the Green and Silver with a bang. Lawson was named one of three Academic Greyhounds of the year last year and has 29 double-doubles during her tenure at ENMU, including five this season. The senior from Rio Rancho, N.M. notched three kills and five digs on Saturday agaisnt TAMU-Kingsville.
• Junior Alexis Aguirre and sophomore Kaitlyn Kluna have set the table for the offense this season, dishing out a combined 461 dimes. Kluna (183 assists) was named to the All-Tournament team at the Tarleton State Tournament.
• Junior libero Andrea Aguilar has 179 digs this season after setting the ninth-highest mark in school history last year with 522. The Clovis, N.M. native needs three to break 1,000 in her career with the Greyhounds. Aguilar is coming off a season-high performance with 25 digs in Tuesday's match against the Lady Chaps.
• Junior Brooklyn Biel is coming off a pair of impressive tournament performances at the WTAMU Lady Buff Classic and the Tarleton State Tournament. Of the nine matches, Biel has gone above double-digits in all but one contest and posted 20 kills in the five-set win against Adams State. Additionally, the Albuquerque, N.M., native has hit .300 or better in six matches.
• The Green and Silver also have four newcomers for the coming campaign. Freshmen Jessica Veeman, Taylor Gikas, Sarah Tuioti-Mariner and Sadie Phimmasone all joined ENMU with expectations of excellence.
 
Schedule Breakdown
• The 'Hounds are 3-5 since 2008 against the Cowgirls. Eastern has won the last three matches against NMHU with two victories coming on the road.
• Eastern has met Midwestern State on the court 13 times since the 2008 season, posting a 4-9 record. In recent history, however, the Greyhounds have held a 4-2 advantage since 2013 and swept MSU last year.
• The Green and Silver have a 4-7 record against Cameron since 2008. The home team has won each of the last four matches.
• ENMU will host 10 matches at the friendly confines of Greyhound Arena. Of the 10 home contests, nine are against foes from the Lone Star Conference
 
'Hounds Chasing Records
• Senior Lauren Frye is eyeing a number of records at ENMU. Currently she ranks in the top 10 in career kills (3rd), attack attempts (4th) and block assists (7th). Additionally, Frye has 68 matches in her career with at least 10 kills and 14 matches with over 20 kills. The Amissville, Va., native needs 372 kills to move into second place on the All-Time list.
• Senior Courtney Lawson currently sits at seventh-place in her career for service aces with 111. Lawson needs 42 to match Jennifer Goble's all-time record.
 
Lone Star Conference Outlook
• The Greyhounds were picked to finish ninth in the Lone Star Conference, despite returning 13 letterwinners
• Tarleton State's Hailey Roberts was named Offensive Player of the Year, Texas Woman's Sara Oxford earned Defensive Player of the Year acclaim, and Texas A&M-Kingsville's Casey Klobedans was tabbed Setter of the Year.
• Angelo State was the narrow favorite to capture the Lone Star Conference title, according to the 2016 LSC volleyball preseason poll. The league's preseason polls reflect the opinions of LSC head coaches and sports information directors, plus various media representatives from throughout the region.

All-Tournament Performers
• WTAMU Lady Buff Classic - Eastern finished 3-1 at the West Texas A&M Lady Buff Classic. Senior Lauren Frye led the tournament with 73 kills while Brooklyn Biel and Andrea Aguilar were named to the All-Tournament team.
• Tarleton State Tournament - Eastern went 1-3 at the Tarleton State Tournament in Stephenville. Lauren Frye and Kaitlyn Kluna were named to the All-Tournament team.
