PORTALES, N.M. –The Eastern New Mexico University men's basketball team dropped a 78-66 decision against Cameron, snapping a three-game winning streak, on Youth Day at Greyhound Arena in front of 2,336 rowdy fans. The loss moves the Greyhounds to 7-9 on the season and 1-5 in Lone Star Conference action.
Â
"Cameron really came out ready to play us," ENMU Head Coach
Tres Segler said. "Their style of play is very hard to prepare for because it's so different from everyone else. I felt like our kids did a good job of understanding what we needed to stop in the first half; we were able to build a nine-point lead and really convert on both ends of the court. I was really pleased with our attack and attention to detail on getting stops defensively. We came out a little flat in the second half. We need to come out with more pop and more energy so that we can continue where we left off. Cameron did a great job in that segment of putting together a run right out of the break that put the game out of reach. I'm proud of the guys for continuing to fight and making plays."

Junior guard
Joe Clarke led the Green and Silver offensively with 13 points while
Lamarquis Thompson finished a rebound shy of recording his first double-double in a Greyhound uniform, recording 10 points and nine rebounds. Senior
Chris Wyms set the table for Eastern on offense with four assists.
Â
"I had some guys I thought did some really special things this afternoon.
Chris Wyms and
Byrale Carter did a good job.
Chaunce Hill gave us some great minutes and some great defensive plays. We have some things that went well, but we also have some things to improve on."

Eastern returns to the court on Saturday, Jan. 14, to take on Midwestern State at Greyhound Arena. Tipoff against the Mustangs is slated for 4 p.m. For the latest news, follow @ENMUAthletics and @ENMU_Hoops on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and visit goeasternathletics.com.
