Greyhound Women’s Soccer Team Looking to Make Impact in LSC Tournament

PORTALES, NM — After an upset of 16th-ranked Midwestern State, the Eastern New Mexico University women's soccer team will head back to Wichita Falls, Texas for the opening round of the Lone Star Conference Tournament. The contest will mark Eastern's sixth appearance in the Lone Star Conference Tournament.

The match is set for a 6 p.m. MT start at Stang Field, in Wichita Falls, Texas. The winner will advance to play top-seeded Angelo State.

Ariel Lopez paces ENMU with seven goals and four assists. The sophomore has nine points in her last four matches, which included a dramatic two-goal game at Midwestern State. Jaci Sievers, Mirka Zamarripa and Kaitlyn Caro each have two goals. Alejandra Camarillo has played every minute in net for the Hounds and has a 1.33 goals against average with a .735 save percentage.

Spence is in his first season with Eastern.

Midwestern State ranks 16th in the latest NCAA Division II poll and second in the South Central Region. The Mustangs boast an 11-6-1 record with a 6-5-1 mark in Lone Star Conference play. Destinee Williamson paces MSU with seven goals and eight assists. Courtney Burnette has played every minute in net for the Mustangs and has a 1.20 goals-against average and .825 save percentage.

Eastern is 3-15-3 against Midwestern State with a 1-8-1 mark on the road. Earlier in the season, Camarillo made four saves as the teams played to a double-overtime tie at Al Whitehead Field at Greyhound Stadium.

The Greyhounds are making their sixth appearance in the Lone Star Conference Tournament and their second straight meeting in the field with Midwestern State. The contest marks the first time the Hounds have played their postseason match in Wichita Falls, Texas.

In their 2006 tournament debut, Nicole Bregler scored the first postseason goal for the Hounds. In 2014, Jenna Sievers scored against Angelo State.
