COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Eastern New Mexico women's basketball team held serve at the No. 5 spot in the latest D2SIDA South Central Regional Poll released on Monday.
The weekly poll, sponsored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) is voted upon by six sports information directors from the South Central region, three of which from the Lone Star/Heartland Conferences and three from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The Hounds received three more votes this week for 33 total votes, finishing just one back of LSC rival Tarleton State in the No. 4 spot while placing two votes ahead of sixth-ranked Black Hills State from the RMAC.
A pair of LSC teams hold the top two spots as West Texas A&M remained in the No. 1 spot and received all six first-place votes while Angelo State made the leap to No. 2 with a win over Texas A&M-International. St. Mary's from the Heartland fell to third after dropping a matchup at MSU Texas last week.
Colorado Mesa and Westminster from the RMAC as well as Lubbock Christian and St. Edward's from the HC held on to their positions in the final four spots of the regional rankings.
The Greyhounds open a six-game road stand today at noon as they take on Oklahoma Christian in non-conference play in Oklahoma City.
