BROOKFIELD, Ill. – Eastern New Mexico fullback
Paul Terry was named a Second Team All-American on Tuesday morning by the Don Hansen Football Committee after leading the Hounds with 989 yards on the ground this season.
Terry was one of many Lone Star Conference athletes to receive honors and adds his name to a list of multiple Eastern New Mexico fullbacks that have received Don Hansen All-American honors in the past five seasons including
Kamal Cass, E'lon Spight and
Tayshaun Gary. Terry was named a First Team All-Lone Star Conference selection and a Don Hansen First Team All-Super Region Four Team member as well.
Terry rushed for 100 yards or more three separate occasion this season and averaged 4.8 yards per carry in the nation's sixth best rushing offense that averaged 284.5 yards per contest. He ranked fourth in the LSC with an average of 89.9 rushing yards per game and finished his junior season with the third most rushing touchdowns in the league as well.
His best performances came back on Sept. 8 when he recorded a season-high 145 rushing yards against Colorado Mesa and then found the end zone twice in the inaugural Chile Bowl against Western New Mexico.
Terry will return for his senior season alongside a loaded backfield that will include quarterback
Wyatt Strand, who will be back for his third season leading the Ground Strike Offense, as well as fellow tailback
Johnny Smith, who ranked second in the LSC with an average of 124.9 all-purpose yards per contest.
