Women's Basketball Ranked Eighth in Preseason Regional Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Following its second NCAA Tournament berth in the last three seasons, the Eastern New Mexico women's basketball team ranks tied for eighth in the D2SIDA Women's Basketball Preseason South Central Regional Poll.

The South Central Region includes the Lone Star Conference and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference while the poll recognizes the best ten teams across both conferences. Seven LSC schools made it into the preseason rankings with No. 1 Lubbock Christian receiving all six of the first-place votes. Eastern earned 18 total points, tied with Colorado Mines and sit ten points ahead of tenth place St. Mary's and two behind seventh place Texas A&M-Commerce.

The Hounds finished last season with a 19-11 overall record and a 14-6 mark in Lone Star Conference play as they finished in a three-way tie for third place in the league standings. The Green and Silver posted an impressive 12-1 record inside Greyhound Arena, setting the best home record in the program's 45-year history.

ENMU wraps-up its exhibition slate this week as they travel to the University of New Mexico Wednesday, Oct. 30th with the tipoff time to be announced.

The Hounds begin regular season play next week as they participate in the LSC/RMAC Conference Challenge. Eastern takes the court against New Mexico Highlands on Friday, Nov. 8 before facing tournament host Fort Lewis the following day in Durango, Colo.
