Women's Basketball Tunes Up For Regular Season with Exhibition Contest at Arizona

TUSCON, Ariz. Eastern New Mexico women's basketball continued its tough exhibition slate in an 85-38 loss to Arizona Sunday afternoon as it prepares for the 2019-20 regular season.

Junior Natalie DeLonge led the squad offensively with nine points, doing most of her damage from the free throw line as the Western Oregon transfer went five-for-six from the charity stripe. Sophomore Jena Mehlbrech shot 75 percent from the field while draining one three-pointer as she finished next on the team with seven points.

Junior Alivia Lewis scored six points on a three-for-four shooting day and also finished tied for the team lead with four rebounds. Sophomore Zamorye Cox corralled four boards from the point guard position and swiped a steal in 23 minutes of action.

The Wildcats shot the ball well all game and converted on 55 percent of their field goal attempts and went 15-for-33 from beyond the arch.

Arizona jumped out to an early 21-10 advantage in the first quarter and would not relinquish the lead for the remainder of the game despite the Hounds matching their fourth quarter output with 11 points.

Eastern finishes its exhibition schedule Wednesday in a road contest against the University of New Mexico with the tipoff time to be announced.
