PORTALES, NM - The Eastern New Mexico football team heads to in-state rival Western New Mexico to compete for the Green Chile Bowl this weekend. The Greyhounds and Mustangs will meet at Ben Altamirano Field on Saturday, October 9 at 6 p.m.Â
HOUNDS' LAST TIME OUT
• The Greyhounds are coming off a 52-6 Homecoming Weekend victory over Lincoln University (Calif.) on Saturday, Oct. 2.
• The Hounds struck early and often as they quickly took a 24-0 advantage by the middle of the second quarter with touchdowns from
Martavius Dill and
Justin Manyweather (2) and a field goal from
Cage Jones.
• Eastern came out in the second half eager to improve upon its lead and did just that, scoring 28 unanswered points in the third and fourth quarters. Manyweather picked up his third touchdown of the game, while
Tafari Gomillion scored twice, and
Devon Bailey made it to the end zone once.

Nathan Valencia was 14-22 with 259 passing yards and four touchdowns.
•
Harper Terry also saw time at the quarterback position and finished 2-5 for 42 yards and one touchdown.
• Gomillion paced all rushers with 76 yards on 21 attempts.
• Manyweather finished the contest with seven receptions for 111 yards and three touchdowns.
•
Mazin Richards led the defense with four sacks for a total loss of 37 yards.
•
Camron Pitcher Jr. had a team-high eight tackles, while
Cameron Santa Cruz had five.
SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
• Western New Mexico fell, 62-3, on the road at Angelo State University on Saturday, Oct. 2.
• The Mustang ground game had 44 yards. Bryce Coleman rushed for 25 yards on eight attempts.
• Devin Larsen threw for 122 yards on 24 attempts and threw an interception.
• Jacob Wallace had four catches for 59 yards. James Hoban had three catches for 20 yards.
• Defensively, Kaleb Gutierrez had 14 total tackles, including 10 solo tackles. Jeremiah Tyler and Tylen Coleman both recorded one sack for the Mustangs.
• The Mustangs only score came in the fourth quarter, as Nick Herber knocked down a 23 yard field goal.
KEEPING THEM UNDER 20
• So far in 2021, the Greyhounds are 2-0 when holding their opponents to under 20 points.
• The Hounds were also unstoppable when limiting opponents to 20 or fewer points in 2019, as Eastern went 3-0 last season when holding the opposition to 20 or less.
• Eastern now holds a 13-0 record over the competition when holding them to 20 points or less dating back to 2017.
AROUND THE LSC
• Midwestern State and UT Permian Basin top the standings as the only unbeaten teams in Lone Star Conference action. This week's schedule includes three LSC contests and two non-conference games.
• LSC football teams are 21-17 overall this season. The squads are 6-5 combined versus the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Northern Sun Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and Great Northwest Athletic Conference teams, which are also in NCAA Super Regional Four.
•The fifth round of LSC Football Players of the Week were announced earlier this week. Hagen Garvin of Angelo State was named Offensive Player of the Week, Eric Rascoe of Angelo State was named Defensive Player of the Week, and Andrew Pitts of Angelo State was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
