Women's Basketball Welcome West Texas A&M For Home Opener

PORTALES, N.M. – After a two-week break, Eastern New Mexico women's basketball return to the floor for its first regular season home game this Thursday, Dec. 2, to take on rival West Texas A&M University, with first tip at 5 p.m. Fans are encouraged to where white for a "White Out" game for both Men's and Women's games on Thursday.

Thursday's game will be broadcast on 105.9 KSEL-FM and KSELCountry.com with Donald "Doc" Elder calling the action. Games will also be broadcast on 106.5 KEND in Roswell and Artesia.

LAST TIME OUT

The Hounds return to the court after last playing on the road in Colorado. Most recently, the Greyhounds suffered its first defeat of the season falling to T-#23 Colorado School of Mines, 50-84. Natalie Stice led Eastern with 14 points, while Asha Ross paced the team with 10 rebounds.

SCOUTING THE HOUNDS

Through the first four games of the season, ENMU is posting 63.3 points per game (ppg), along with alone allowing 62.8 ppg, finding a scoring margin of +0.5-scoring margin. The Greyhounds are efficient from the field, with a 39.2% field goal percentage. From range, the Hounds are shooting 34.5%, while having a 65.3% free throw percentage. On the glass, Eastern is collecting 37.5 rebounds per game (rpg), dishing out 8.8 assists per game (apg), finding 8.8 steals per game (spg), and suppling 2.0 blocks per game (bpg).
 
Stice is the Hounds leading scorer and rebounder with 14.8 ppg and 6.0 rpg. Laura Rowe is adding 8.5 ppg, and MeMe Amand contributing 7.8 ppg to the ENMU offense. Ross is adding 5.5 rpg on the glass, and Kamirah Decker supplies 4.8 rpg. Bella Stone facilities the ball with 2.8 apg, and Anasha Hurst is just behind with 1.8 apg.
 
Among the LSC, ENMU currently stand in second in opponent field goal percentage, allowing teams to 35.1% shooting. Eastern are also second best for three-point field goal percentage with 34.5%, and the Hounds are holding teams to just 34.8 rpg, standing fifth in the conference.

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION

The Lady Buffs currently stand at 4-5, and come to Portales with a two-game win streak. WT went 2-0 at the 2021 PAK-A-SAK Thanksgiving Classic this past weekend, besting Fort Lewis College, 93-46, then defeating Western Colorado University, 62-51.

West Texas A&M is averaging 68.9 ppg, while holding teams to just 64.4 ppg, for a +4.5-scoring margin. From the field, the Lady Buffs are shooting 37.7%, 26.7% from behind the arc, and 74.5% from the free throw line. Additionally, WT is averaging 36.5 rpg, 12.3 apg, 9.1 spg, and 5.0 bpg. The Lady Buffs are the top team in the LSC in blocks, and stand in fifteenth across Division II for blocks per game.

Zamorye Roberts is the team's leading scorer with 16.7 ppg, with AlivialLewis adding 10.7 ppg. Lewis finds 8.2 rpg, along with Karly Motschenbacher providing 6.9 rpg.
