PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico rodeo is back in action at the Frank Phillips College rodeo in Canadian, Texas. Before the Greyhounds compete, please take a look at the Three Barrel Preview:
Barrel One – Historic Moments: Shaeden Marr advanced to the short round for the first time in her collegiate career two weeks ago at the Vernon College rodeo. Her 17.53s time was just good enough to place within the top-ten out of 180 cowgirls. The women finished sixth at the third rodeo of the season. This week, they are seeking their first top-three nod of the 2023-24 year.
Barrel Two – Aim To Score: After earning an eighth-place finish at Sul Ross State, the men's team is looking to advance a handful of cowboys into the short-round. The program has not posted a finish higher than eighth since the 2021 College Daze Rodeo in Portales. Current junior
Trent Wood had a solid finish in the tiedown to help the team earn 85 points.
Barrel Three – Back In Canadian: For the first time in two seasons, ENMU will be back at the Frank Phillips College rodeo. The event is unique with a big arena.
Shacie Marr is the only Greyhound who has made it to the short round at the FPC rodeo as she had two rounds of 7.7s in the goat tying to take sixth overall. This year, ENMU has had some early success in the goat tying and looks to continue that trend with a strong performance in the panhandle.
