PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico rodeo is at Texas Tech for the final rodeo of the fall campaign. Before the Hounds head to the arena, please take a look at the Three Barrel Preview:
1.) Fall Success – The women's team has three top-6 finishes this fall. The men's team earned a top-ten finish for the first time in two seasons at the Sul Ross State competition. Two Hounds have made the short round multiple times in 2023 –
Shacie Marr (4) and
Greeley Eastep (2).
Shaeden Marr,
Zachary Townsend, and
Tabby Tomlinson have also earned spots in the short-go at least once this season.
2.) Preview Texas Tech – Two student-athletes,
Gracie Hillrud and
Beau Dean shared their thoughts on the upcoming rodeo. They complimented their teammates,
Shacie Marr and Tyson Makenzie, by talking about their accomplishments and thoughts going into the Lubbock competition. Hillrud is a sophomore from Canada competing in goats and barrels. Dean is a senior from South Dakota competing in steer wrestling and team roping.
3.) Schedule of Events – A 5 p.m. slack will get things rolling Thursday night and competitors will head into the 7:30 p.m. performance. A 9 a.m. morning slack will run on Friday and Saturday with both performance times set for 6:30 p.m. leading up to the Saturday night short round. The location is at Cook's Garage located at 11002 Highway 87 in Lubbock, Texas.
