FRISCO, TEXAS – Deja Adrian,
Ashley Shipley, and
Bella Stone of Eastern New Mexico Women's Basketball have all received all-conference honors, as announced at the 2023 LSC Women's Basketball Awards Banquet at Main Event Frisco in Frisco, Texas on Wednesday evening. Adrian took home Newcomer of the Year, along with a nod to the All-Conference First Team. Shipley and Stone both were recognized as an All-Conference Honorable Mention.
Adrian had a breakout first season for the Greyhounds, leading the team in scoring (17.0 ppg) and rebounds (7.1 rpg). The Houston, Texas native finished with eight double-doubles this season, including registering a career high 29 points against Oklahoma Christian (2/16/23) and in rebounds with 12 against Western New Mexico (2/23/23). Adrian finished second in the LSC scoring charts, 5
th in field goal percentage (.453), 7
th in free throw percentage (.797), and 12
th in rebounding. The Junior also leads the program in three-point field goal percentage (.377), was 2
nd in assists per game on the team (1.8), 5
th in steals per game (1.3), and 2
nd for blocks per game (0.3).
In the ENMU program record books, Adrian's 17.0 ppg is the 8
th most in a single season by a Greyhound, and the highest since Tiana Bryant in the 2005-06 season. Adrian is the first Greyhound to receive Newcomer of the Year since Treyanna Clay picked up the honor in the 2018-19 season. Clay was the last Greyhound to make the LSC All-Conference First-Team, before Adrian received the first team nod this season.
Meanwhile, Shipley and Stone both earned their first career all-conference honors, each being selected as an honorable mention. Shipley tallied 11.4 ppg, and was the team's leader in three point shooting, sinking 54 triples over the season. The Tucumcari, N.M. native finished in the top-10 in the LSC for three-point field goal percentage (5
th, .355) and three pointers made per game (6
th, 2.2). In the ENMU record books, Shipley's 54 three-point field goals is the 10
th most in a single season in ENMU history.
Stone led the Greyhounds on both ends of the floor, finishing the season with a team best 3.4 apg and 1.9 spg. Additionally, the sophomore collected 8.2 ppg and 5.1 rpg, playing 34.4 minutes per game (5
th in LSC). In the LSC, Stone finished 6
th in the conference for assists, 3.4 apg, 7
th in assist/turnover ratio (1.2 assist/turnover ratio), and landed in 10
th in the LSC for steals per game (1.9).
Eastern completed the 2022-23 season with a 12-15 record, with a 9-13 LSC standing during the second season under Coach
Meghan De los Reyes.
