Women's Basketball Lands 10th In LSC Preseason Poll

Ishuana Hunter was recognized to the LSC Preseason Player to Watch List

RICHARDSON, Texas- The Lone Star Conference has announced its 2024-25 LSC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll as voted upon by coaches and representatives across the league on Monday afternoon. The Eastern New Mexico women's basketball program was selected to finish 10th, picking up 248 total points.
 
Texas Woman's earned the top spot in the preseason poll, following a successful 2023-24 campaign reaching the national final. The Pioneers captured the LSC 2023-24 regular season championship, 2024 LSC Tournament Championship, and 2024 NCAA South-Central Region Championship, earned 703 total points and 37 first place votes. Lubbock Christian took home second, picking up three first place votes and 627 points. UT Tyler followed in third place (614 points, two first place votes), UT Permian Basin finished in fourth place (566 total points, one first place vote), and West Texas A&M rounded out the top five (514 total points, one first place vote). Texas Woman's just fell short in second place, garnering the most first place votes (17), with 633 total points.
 
In addition to the poll, the conference announced its preseason player of the year, being awarded to Ashley Ingraham of Texas Woman's. Additionally, Ishuana Hunter was named an LSC Player to Watch for the upcoming season on the Greyhounds. Hunter was recognized to the LSC Third Team last season, playing in 18 games and averaging 14.4 ppg and 8.3 rpg. Last season, the Greyhounds finished 11-17 on the season, holding a 7-15 conference record.

Blake Huber takes the sidelines for his second season with the program, earning a full season under his belt in 2023-24. Eastern returns five members of the 2023-24 squad, while bringing in 10 recruits. Hunter and Jaz Salon both earned all-conference honors last season, while the 10 newcomers are divided among NCAA transfers, junior college products, and true freshman will make up the rest of the ENMU roster
 
Eastern New Mexico begins the season in Durango, Colo. on Nov. 8 at 1 p.m., facing New Mexico Highlands as part of the 2024 South Central Region Crossover. The following day, the Greyhounds will face Fort Lewis on Nov. 9 at 6 p.m.
